Lady Gaga Plays Piano

Lady Gaga was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta and began her rise to rock stardom in New York City’s Lower East Side.  She was attending the New York University’s Tisch School of Arts at the time but soon signed on with Streamline Records.  She began as a song writer for other artists.

Her first album was released in August of 2008, The Fame, and reached number one in several countries and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 the same year.  Two of her singles, Just Dance and Poker Face became number one hits.  Her album would later earn a total of six Grammy Award nominations and won for Best Electronic/Dance Album and Best Dance Recording (Poker Face).  Her second album, The Fame Monster, came out in late 2009.  One single from that album, Bad Romance, became a chart topper.

Lady Gaga has said that she was inspired by such artists as David Bowie and Queen as well as Madonna and Michael Jackson.  She has sold over 15 million albums and 51 million singles worldwide to date.

She has been listed and one of the most influential people in the world in Time magazine and Forbes.
